Design Background

I entered the corporate design world in 1997 with a job in the ‘environmental branding’ division in Landor’s London office. Then I shuffled over to the Communications department where my female boss’s dysfunctional relationship with her alcoholic boyfriend and a divorced, bi-polar father made my days miserable and any semblance of a career at Landor unattainable.

At Wickens Tutt Southgate I made an arse of myself in frontĀ of some seriously talented and respected thinkers, before moving to retail design consultancy Allen International. My last London design job was at environmental brand specialists, 20/20, based in Camden where I spent the best year of my career to date. In May 2001, hubby and I relocated our lives to my hometown, my beloved Sydney, where a brief stint at Chris Perks Design as Communications Manager set me up with the local contacts I needed to launch my freelance career.

A brief guest editing seat at Australian Creative and multiple writing commissions later, my husband and I, with our two kids flew to New York where he had accepted a job in advertising, (having admirably made the crossover from design).

That is where I sit now. Knowing that we will be returning to Sydney in 2011. This Blog is an opportunity to get my fingers in the design pie again and do something that doesn’t seem to be available in the Australian marketplace.

Please welcome me to the Blogosphere!
